Adult Education Presents...
Is God male or female or beyond either? God is referred to as He in the Hebrew Bible. In the Talmud, the rabbis refer to God as He, but often use the term Shekhinah, which is a feminine noun. In Kabbalah, Shekhinah is thought of as the feminine face of God. In recent times, the name Shekhinah has been used by Jewish feminists as an alternative to male names for God. We will explore the evolution of the idea.
Presented by Tom Brodersen, MSJS (Master of Science in Jewish Studies) Sunday, July 31st at 1pm at Temple B'rith Shalom
Please join Carl Shulak's Lunch Bunch Torah Study at the Temple! Every Wednesday from 12-1:30pm Feel free to bring your own lunch but please no treif (pork, shrimp, etc). All are welcome to attend!
Onegs are BACK! We are looking for volunteers to host an Oneg. This would involve purchasing the food, preparing it for service at the temple, as well as cleaning up afterwards. We are hoping to serve simple, and light refreshments such as cookies, cheese and crackers, hummus and veggies, etc. It is up to you! The temple would of course be happy to reimburse any expenses with receipts up to $25 per Oneg.
If you would like to volunteer to host an Oneg, please contact Jessica in the office. As excited as we all are to have Onegs back, we will not be able to sustain them without each and every one of your help.
UPDATE: Thank you all who have volunteered to host an Oneg. The next available Oneg date is in September.
