Board Leadership
2022-2023 Board of Directors
Board meetings are always open for members to observe. If you wish to address the board, please contact VP Robin Frielich at least one week prior to the meeting in writing.
Trudy Steinhauer, President and Chair of Membership Trudy was born in Pittsburgh, PA, lived in India as a child, and was a flight attendent/purser for 35 years. She married Douglas Steinhauer in 1987. After retiring she held numerous volunteer positions before moving to Prescott in 2015. TBS is the only Reform Jewish religious organization in the quad cities area. She believes it’s incumbent upon all of us to strengthen our Jewish presence in this area, which will benefit us to attract and retain the unaffiliated. We need to reinforce our interfaith participation and commit to the needed social action involvement in our Prescott community. Paramount to all of this is our Religious School. Our Religious School is our future. We’re blessed to be part of “A Jewel of a Shul.”
Robin Frielich, Vice President and Chair of Marketing Herb & Robin (and Neil) came to Prescott in 1991 from the heart of Greenwich Village in NYC. It was a bit of an adjustment but they became involved with TBS almost immediately. They were the 50th family unit at TBS and since 1992 Robin has held every office/job here except bookkeeper. They love being a part of TBS and it has become a vital part of their lives here in Prescott.
Dan Adler, Treasurer Dan is a leading real estate broker/owner with Diamond Property Group in Prescott. Dan is also a command pilot for the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office and a Veteran Air Force Officer. Additionally, Dan is a public speaker, trainer and small business consultant. Dan and his wife, Terri are both Arizona natives and they share two beautiful kids, Josh and Rebecca.
Deborah Plotkin, Secretary Deborah and her husband, Jeff, relocated to Prescott from Massachusetts in 2018. Deborah retired in 2020 after a long career as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Traveling to visit their three children and two granddaughters provide adventures in Hawaii, California, and South Carolina. Deb's goal for TBS is to work with Rabbi Susan Schanerman and congregants to ensure that TBS is a supportive haven for our Jewish members and the community.
Suzi Abramson-Johnson, Ritual Chair Suzi and her husband Phil, married 41 years, made Prescott their main residence in 2019, keeping a small condo in the valley to return for the winters. Originally from Wisconsin, where she and a group of friends founded a Reconstructionist Synagogue in 1989, she was one of their Cantorial Soloists. Since retiring in 2021 from an over 40 year career as a Project Manager in the Telecommunications Industry, Suzi is excited to get involved at TBS, hoping to grow our community, study, sing and share her love for Judaism with others. She and Phil are the proud grandparents of 5 grandchildren, 2 girls living in Prescott and 3 boys in Denver!
Arlene Brownie, Religious School Arlene moved to Prescott Valley in 2001 from Phoenix. She fell in love with TBS because we are so family focused. She has been a teacher of Special Need Adults and Children and has taught at the TBS Religious School for over 20 years. She is also a dancer, singer, and teaches voice lessons. She retired from the State two years ago to focus on family, to travel, and to be more involved at TBS.
Al Steinberg, Building and Grounds Allee and Al moved to the area in 2005. Al is a fire service retiree as well as a public school retiree with several generations of volunteerism thrown in. Allee retired from 40+ years as a dental hygienist. They live in Chino Valley on a piece of property they call AB Normal Acres. They have an adult daughter in Portland; Allee’s father lives with them.
Gloria Hershman, Finance Co-Chair and Fundraising After 35 years as a senior executive in health care, Gloria and Bruce retired to Prescott. Since then, Gloria has served on many community boards including as treasurer of TBS. This is an exciting time to return to the TBS board as Prescott has experienced tremendous growth. TBS will be an important support for the many new Jewish families settling in Prescott.
