Rabbi's Reflections ~ חייל בודד Lone Soldiers are courageous and dedicated young Jews from all around the world who volunteer to serve in the Israel Defense Forces. Without families in Israel, some soldiers may suffer from loneliness, especially when they have time off from their extremely demanding military duty and on Shabbat and holidays.
At TBS, we partner with the East Valley Jewish Community Center in Chandler to send cards and letters to Lone Soldiers every year for Hanukkah. Our students will participate in this project on Sunday. Any congregant who wishes to submit a card or letter is encouraged to do so. Drop them in the office no later than Wednesday, Nov. 12.
