Several of you have asked if we can talk about Israel at TBS. Of course we can. I talk about Israel a lot. I value speaking to those who read books about Israel, listen to podcasts, tune in to speakers who know more than we read in US newspapers, and delve into media sources that seem to be in the know. Like you, I am frequently confused by what happens in Israel.
If you are also eager to learn more in a safe and civil setting, join our upcoming book group. We'll schedule it on Sunday mornings at 10am May 18, 25; June 15, 22; July 6 so that working folks can join us. I anticipate 5 sessions depending on the book we select.
It's more about our conversations than about the book we read but I like to have a context for our discussions.
Books on my shelf or do you have a book to suggest? *Can we talk about Israel? by Daniel Sokatch *The genius of Israel : the surprising resilience of a divided nation in a turbulent world by Dan Senor *Letters to my Palestinian neighbor by Yossi Klein Halevi *My promised land by Ari Shavit *The ten big anti-Israel lies and how to refute them by Alan Dershowitz בשלום Rabbi Susan
