In this week’s Torah portion, God commands Abraham to leave the place of his birth and to go forth to a land that God promises to show him.
This willingness to go forth, to look beyond the self, distinguishes Abraham in God's eyes. “I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you,” God promises Abraham. “I will make your name great, and you shall be a blessing.”
May Abraham's story inspire us to be courageous, even when we feel confused and disheartened. Just as he did, we will move forward. בשלום, Rabbi Susan
