Rabbi's Reflections ~ סוכות After many hours of prayer and deep reflection, we venture outdoors this Friday into our brand new sukkah. Thank you for the structure to Richie, Bruce, and Al. Thank you for the decorating to some of our Sunday school families.
Our oneg (weather permitting) will be inside the sukkah. The lulav and etrog will be available.
The sukkah reminds us of the fragility of life. Our foundations may, at times, feel shaky but we persist in reinforcing our metaphorical life structures throughout our lives.
If you cannot join us this Friday, the sukkah will remain standing and decorated through next Thursday so bring a meal or a snack or just yourself and find time to shake the lulav and bless the harvest and our lifelong journey through the desert.
And send me a sukkah photo if you build a sukkah in your backyard.
חגים אוזמנים לששון Rabbi Susan
There are sooo many thank yous for the High Holy Days. So many people donating months and weeks and hours in rehearsals, in the kitchen, shlepping and reshlepping (Al says thanks!), ushering and greeting, arranging for food donations, offering yoga and discussion, creating the beautiful decorative quilts, reading Torah, chanting aliyot and haftarot, reading beautiful poetry, providing the children's programs. It is so much more than just attending services that makes the High Holy Days so meaningful and inspiring. My heartfelt thank you to you all.
Yizkor Book of Remembrance If you placed names in our Yizkor book 5785 and have not picked up your copy yet, please see Jessica or Heather in the office. If you are unable to come to the office, call or email to make other arrangements.
