Rabbi's Reflections ~ תִּשְׁעָה בְּאָב Tisha B'Av is the most solemn day of the Jewish year. Why, you wonder, would I want to relive such tsuris? Well, you are not alone. Traditionally, Conservative and Orthodox Jews come together for an evening of prayer and consolation but Reform Jews often do not.
I would like to change that minhag (custom) at Temple B'rith Shalom. Last year, we made a minyan. This year, I would like to see many more folks attend our short program. We will share readings and poetry about Israel this year as many congregations are doing. Her pain and struggles are on all of our minds and bear acknowledging on the saddest day of the Jewish year.
Monday, August 12, at 5:30 in our sanctuary. Please attend.
L'shalom, Rabbi Susan
