Since 1980, women’s history has been celebrated nationally in the month of March. Women’s History Month was developed to challenge stereotypes about women’s roles in history and as an innovative way to create equality in classrooms.
Bess Myerson, crowned Miss America in 1945, made inroads in American recognition of Jewish women, though excelling in a beauty pageant was not the full expression of who Jewish women in America were and are.
We are scientists, authors, musicians, poets, politicians, social activists. Nobel prize winners, Supreme Court judges, Federal Reserve chairs, actors, philanthropists, feminists, educators, philosophers, and so much more.
"The only way for a woman, as for a man, to find herself, to know herself as a person, is by creative work of her own. There is no other way." ~ Betty Friedan
