We are mourning the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust. The news reports fill us with astonishment, anger, and sadness.
We wonder how it could have happened, and how long it will be until something like peace is once again the reality in Eretz Yisrael.
We have called family and friends who live in our homeland. The stories they tell us stretch our imaginations. Running from snipers, crouching in fields, watching the murder of loved ones.
We are glued to news reports from eye witnesses, politicians, military leaders, courageous soldiers.
We open our pockets and donate.
Our Shabbat service will focus on Israel this Friday. We will conclude with the singing of Hatikvah as our determination to see Israel survive becomes even stronger.
L'shalom, Rabbi Susan
