Rabbi’s Reflections ~ סליחות Selichot is often not well-attended at synagogues. Congregants anticipating the High Holy Days decide to skip this traditional gathering on the Saturday evening before Rosh Hashanah.
At Temple B'rith Shalom, we fill the room. Imagine my surprise last year when forty people came to the potluck and stayed to pray. That was when I knew that TBS shows up.
Selichot is a short service that serves to inspire our mental and spiritual preparation for the Yamim Noraim. We change the Torah covers to white, we hear the first blasts of the shofar, and the music, featuring Jessica'a angelic voice, awakens our hearts and souls.
The sign-up for the potluck is below. Join us for dinner at 5:00 or just the service at 6:00. Hashiveinu ~ Let us return.
L'shalom, Rabbi Susan
