Rabbi’s Reflections ~ Countering anti-Semitism

I thank David Hess at the Jewish Community Foundation for his assistance after we heard this week that an anti-Semitic, white Supremacist, neo-Nazi named Nick Fuentes was scheduled to speak at an alt-right fringe college group meeting at The Hassayampa Inn on July 30. David immediately notified his many contacts in law enforcement in Prescott, Phoenix and Tucson. I notified the Anti-Defamation League and my local colleague at Chabad. 

A local citizen (not Jewish) met with the Hassayampa on Monday and educated them about this speaker and this organization. Within hours, The Hassayampa Inn cancelled the program. On Monday evening Arizona GOP committees issued statements that they were falsely linked with this radical right organization and do not support them in any way.

Embry-Riddle refused to allow them to use their campus. Now we wait to see if this group finds another foothold in our community. We hope they go away.

Do reach out to the Hassayampa to express your gratitude that they will not permit such venom at their lovely inn. I was prepared to never enter the building again and am delighted that I may continue to recommend their hotel and their restaurant to my family and friends.
