This Friday night, we celebrate our religious school children and their teachers and all teachers in our congregation. This is National Teacher Appreciation Week. A perfect opporunity to express our gratitude to professional educators who make such a difference in the lives of our children. My husband, Brian, will retire from public school teaching this month after 32 years in a classroom. I was a public school educator for 22 years and have so much admiration for those who dedicate their lives to children.
Our last day of Sunday school is May 7. But, we are planning a monthly Shabbat program for children ages 2-12 in June, July, and August. Our Sunday school resumes in late August. Religious school registration forms will be available very soon. Teachers and I will begin planning and designing next year's curriculum this month.
When I came to TBS, I was unclear what my role ought to be in the Sunday school. But, with 13 years experience directing a large school at Temple Emanuel of Tempe, I jumped right in. With the support of Arlene and Blanche and then Sara and Samantha, we grew the program, added classes, and now have a wonderful foundation for the future. Thank you, especially, to the families who have entrusted to us their children's Jewish education on Sunday mornings. We applaud your dedication to raising your children Jewish. L'shalom, ~ Rabbi Susan rabbi@brithshalom-az.org
There may be a misconception that once a family or individual has left TBS, they may not rejoin. This is absolutely NOT TRUE! We welcome back any and all former members who wish to rejoin TBS. You will love our new energy and sense of community. Help us SPREAD THE WORD.

Marc Chagall: Art as Prayer Chagall lived from 1887 to 1985 and his spirit lives on in his art. His 98 years reflect much of Jewish life in the 20th century. He is the most recognizably Jewish major artist of his time and yet could not be confined by any definition.
