Rabbi’s Reflections ~ Israel Independence Day ~ יום העצמאות To sit in Indpendence Hall in Tel Aviv and listen to a recording of David Ben Gurion proclaiming Israel's independence on May 14, 1948 is a breathtaking moment.
To read Golda Meir's autobiography and marvel at this woman of such courage and intelligence and determination inspires me to work harder for the Jewish people.
To gaze over Jersualem as Shabbat falls and marvel at the white stone framed by the golden hues of sunset is to witness a miracle.
To dip in the Dead Sea, to stand tall at Masada, to wander the meandering streets in Tzfat engage my senses in ways that no other country in the world can evoke.
Yom Ha'atzmaut (Israel Independence Day) is next week. We will celebrate this Shabbat with music, food, and Israeli dancing. Please join us.
Counting the Omer ~ Evening of April 19 ~ Day 14 Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Sovereign of the Universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments, and commanded us concerning the counting of the Omer.
