Rabbi's Reflections~ “Savlanut” Patience is the balance between complete passivity and blatant intolerance. The slow-moving car ahead, a conversant who doesn’t get to the point fast enough, a too-long line at the checkout counter, myself for not getting the job done sooner or better or more easily or whatever.
Mussar teaches that we become impatient when we make the situation completely about ourselves. You are delaying ME, interfering with MY plan, standing in the way of MY needs. We drown out the voices and needs of others when we do not acknowledge our rightful place in the universe. “Patience is opening the space between the match and the fuse.” ~ Mussar text ~ Rabbi Susan rabbi@brithshalom-az.org

Composting instead of landfilling reduces methane gas production and recycles nutrients back to the soil. Methane gas is a significant cause of global greenhouse gas emissions because it captures and retains heat longer than carbon dioxide. Compost also improves Arizona's soil, which has been degraded by a 20-year drought. Drop off your compost material (no plastic bags) in a bucket in the sukkah at TBS by 11AM on Saturdays and it will be taken to the Prescott Farmer’s Market.
