The High Holiday season has officially ended. Thank you to all who made my first holidays so very lovely and special. What a great team of volunteers and caring congregants you all are. To those who receive these emails but have not yet decided to join TBS, I encourage you to become part of this warm and welcoming family. I am readily available for one-to-one meetings if you would like to get to know me on a personal level.

TBS Board Meeting
The next Board Meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 16 at 2pm at Temple B'rith Shalom. Board meetings are open to all members in good standing. If you would like to address the board or speak at the board meeting, please contact President, Trudy Steinhauer at trudysteinhauer@gmail.com no later than Monday, November 14 prior to the board meeting.

Adult Education

1. TBS Choir – open to all members over 13. Rehearsals will be on Thursdays from 3:15-4:30 starting Thursday, Nov. 3. Our first performance will be Friday, Dec. 23 at Kabbalatke.
2. Monthly yoga and Kabbalah ~ Gentle poses (mostly seated) and shared wisdom from the text Kabbalah: Month by Month. Bring a mat, wear comfy clothes, and spend an hour working out the physical and emotional kinks.
3. Hebrew Prayerbook ~ Using the text Hineni: Prayerbook Hebrew for Adults, we begin to explore the prayers and Hebrew vocabulary of the siddur. Ability to decode Hebrew is a must but we will improve our Hebrew reading along the way.
4. Mussar ~  A spiritual practice that can be transformative. Everyday Holiness by Alan Morinis, will help us explore a different personality trait each session with fellow seekers. The group will be closed (meaning no drop-ins after the 1st class) and will require a several month commitment to attend weekly. Eight people needed to make this class.
5. Great Thoughts ~ Deepen your understanding of Judaism with lively discussions on topics found in the book: Contemporary Jewish Religious Thought by Arthur Cohen.
6. Torah Trope ~ Learn to read and sing the little trope markings that indicate how we chant Torah. Ability to read music is strongly recommended. The Art of Torah Cantillation by Marshall Portnoy is a step-by-step book.
7. Judaism’s Ten Best Ideas by Dr. Arthur Green ~ A great starting point for those who would like to learn more about Judaism.
8. Discovering Judaism ~ For non-Jews interested in exploring Judaism for the sake of conversion and Jews who want to learn more about Jewish lifecycles, holidays, history, text, Israel, and more.
9. Adult B’nei Mitzvah ~ Many women were not offered the opportunity to become bat mitzvah at age 13 and some men were not involved Jewishly at that time of life. Interested in studying for a bar or bat mitzvah?

We will explore the important Jewish connections in his personal life – lifelong friends from high school, the best man at his wedding, his tailor, his hairdressers, his jeweler, his song writers, and many more.

Purchasing a Yahrzeit plaque is a beautiful way to honor and remember our loved one's who have passed. If you would like to purchase a plaque, please fill out this form and return it to the temple office. We kindly ask for $200 per Yahrzeit plaque. 

Important! Effective January 1, the cost to purchase a Yahrzeit plaque will increase to $360 per plaque. Be sure to order your loved one's plaques now while they're still $200 each.

On October 23 at 3PM, Sonia Harden-Lemke will sing with the Yavapai College Master Chorale in  "Mostly Mozart" Program featuring the "Coronation Mass" At the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center. Tickets cost $25.
