One Room Shul House

You shall Love God with all your heart,
with all your soul and with all your might,

and these words which I command you this day, you shall take to heart….
TEACH THEM DILIGENTLY TO YOUR CHILDREN….

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Vision Statement
The goal of The One Room Shul House is to make passionate Jewish life an integral part of every family's experience of Judaism. We want every member of Temple B’rith Shalom, from the very youngest to the most seasoned, to experience and engage their Jewish lives through an authentic, rich, STICK TO YOUR BONES and meaningfully relevant, Judaism. We want the children to feel at home in their synagogue and know they are vital members of the Temple B’rith Shalom community,

About the One Room Shul House
Temple B'rith Shalom's One Room Shul House is unlike most Jewish religious schools, where parents drop their children off and return three hours later to pick them up. The goal is for the children and parents to live Judaism, not simply learn about it. At B'rith Shalom, the involvement of family is crucial to the educational experience as well as to their sense of belonging in the life of the community.

The One Room Shul House is the creation of Rabbi Julie Kozlow. Together with teachers Arlene Brownie and Blanch Berkowitz, she creates a world in which the children feel at home in the synagogue and pat of the B’rith Shalom community.

The curriculum revolves around the three T’s: Torah, Tefillah (prayer) and Tikkun Olam (Repair of the world). The goal is to cultivate empathy and to teach the ideas that are the moral and ethical foundations of Judaism.
